RapidCanvas, an Austin-based startup that helps mid-sized companies build AI applications without massive engineering teams, raised $29 million in a Series B round led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India. The financing, announced October 16, 2026, included participation from new investor Hitachi Ventures alongside returning backers Accel, Peak XV Partners, Valley Capital Partners and Titanium Ventures. The company has now raised $52.5 million since founders Rahul Pangam and Uttam Phalnikar launched it in 2021.
The round arrives on the heels of what the company describes as substantial growth: an eightfold increase in annualized revenue over the past six quarters. But the more revealing metric may be that more than 40% of RapidCanvas's customers are now running multiple AI use cases in production environments, a sign that initial experiments are graduating into operational systems. The company said over 75 enterprises used its platform to make 1.4 million AI-powered decisions in 2026 year-to-date.
Pangam and Phalnikar come to the problem with perspective. Their previous venture, Simility, built fraud-detection technology that PayPal acquired in 2018 for roughly $120 million, according to TechCrunch reports and PayPal's SEC filings at the time. With RapidCanvas, they're targeting a different tier of customer: companies generating between $100 million and $1 billion in annual revenue. These organizations face a peculiar bind. They're large enough to need sophisticated AI capabilities but typically lack the engineering depth that Fortune 100 firms can muster.
"AI can be the great equalizer, but so far its biggest wins have gone to the Fortune 100," Pangam said in a statement.
The platform itself tries to solve three distinct pain points. First, an Enterprise Context Engine captures how companies actually make decisions and what business processes govern those choices. Then there's a Visual Development Canvas, which comes loaded with pre-built code that RapidCanvas claims can give teams a 60% head start on building applications. Finally, an Operational Harness handles the unglamorous but critical work of post-deployment governance. The system runs model-agnostic across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and the company maintains SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and GDPR certifications.
Where the fresh capital goes tells its own story. RapidCanvas plans to expand its go-to-market operation and partner network, with particular emphasis on private equity firms and advisory shops that work with mid-market companies. The startup will also grow its field AI engineering staff across the United States, Brazil and India, while continuing to invest in those three product modules.

The partner strategy appears to be taking shape. RapidCanvas signed deals this year with Virtas Partners, a financial advisory firm, and Citwell, a supply-chain consultancy. One industrial customer, MTE-THOMSON, reported a 35% improvement in operational efficiency and cut time spent on manual adjustments in half after deploying the platform, according to a company announcement from March of last year.
"Most enterprises are still searching for real returns on their AI spend," said Piyush Kharbanda, general partner at Vertex Ventures SEA & India. Radhika Ananth, who leads India operations and serves as investment director at Hitachi Ventures, framed the challenge more bluntly: "Enterprise AI will ultimately be measured by the economics of delivering outcomes at scale."
The market RapidCanvas is chasing puts it up against established players including H2O.ai, Dataiku and Domino Data Lab. The company claims recognition by G2 as a "Momentum Leader" in data science platforms.

RapidCanvas's funding history has accelerated alongside its growth. The company raised a $7.5 million seed round led by Accel in March of last year, then followed with a $16 million Series A led by Peak XV Partners in December. LinkedIn showed roughly 122 employees last month, though such counts often lag actual headcount by weeks or more.
The company declined to disclose its post-money valuation. Management said it plans to announce new customer wins and product features in coming quarters, though no specific timeline was provided.
