A Mountain View startup claims it has produced more than 1 million video advertisements for e-commerce marketers using a system that bypasses one of the more vexing rituals of generative AI: the prompt. Shhots AI, a small company that launched in April 2024, converts product photographs into social-media-ready video ads without asking users to describe what they want.
The platform had attracted over 10,000 e-commerce marketers as of August 2024, according to the company, which reported an average user rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars based on approximately 1,240 in-app reviews at that time. Whether that traction translates to staying power in a crowded field remains to be seen.
For anyone who has struggled to commission video ads at scale, the pitch is straightforward. Traditional collaborations with content creators can stretch into weeks and cost hundreds of dollars per finished asset. Most AI video generators still require users to write detailed prompts specifying camera angles, voiceover tone, pacing, and transitions. Shhots' approach seems targeted at marketers who prioritize automation and simplicity over detailed creative input.
Upload and Wait
The workflow, as described on Shhots' product page, begins with a single product photo or a URL. The system reads product details, drafts an ad script, selects a synthetic voice, and renders a finished video with captions in under two minutes. Users choose from three visual styles: live-action AI-generated creators, 2D animation, or 3D animation, all derived from the same source image.
Output formats include 10-, 15-, and 30-second videos optimized for Meta (feed, Reels, Stories), TikTok, YouTube, and Google Display. The tool supports aspect ratios of 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, and 16:9, with AI voiceovers available in 12 languages and automatic captioning included.
Pricing follows a credit-based model. Subscription plans start at $19 monthly for 2,000 credits (the Starter tier), with Pro at $49 for 6,000 credits and Scale at $99 for 12,000, according to the company's pricing page. A 10-second user-generated-content-style video costs 551 credits, roughly $4.50 on the Pro plan, while a 30-second spot runs 1,651 credits, or about $13.48, Shhots disclosed in a blog post. All plans include watermark-free exports and a commercial license. The company also offers a managed service at $499 per month for 30 videos and 50 AI images.
Rapid Iteration
Shhots has released four format expansions in recent months. In early September, it added 30-second video generation across multiple ad styles. Two weeks later, the company launched 2D animated ads within its UGC generator, followed by an AI podcast ad generator in late September that produces 30-second spots with one or two synthetic hosts. In early October, Shhots released 3D animated ads featuring what it describes as "Pixar-style" characters holding products.
In July, the company built a remote server that allows users to generate ads from Claude or ChatGPT. "Describe it in Claude or ChatGPT and the finished, watermark-free asset lands in your Shhots workspace," the company wrote in a product update.
The platform also integrates with Shopify, pulling product URLs, titles, descriptions, and images to auto-generate videos without requiring app installation for the basic workflow, though a separate Shopify app does exist in the App Store.

The Case Against Prompts
"Everyone believes prompting is a superpower for Gen AI," said Rajat Dangi, founder and CEO, in a LinkedIn post. "I think prompting is a bug, it is not for everyone."
Dangi and co-founder Mofid Ansari launched Shhots, according to Crunchbase, and the company currently employs between one and 10 people. No public announcements of venture funding have been found as of October 2024.
The AI-generated UGC ad space is getting crowded. Creatify markets a URL-to-Video feature with over 370 AI avatars. Arcads offers a library of more than 1,000 AI actors and its own Claude integration. HeyGen provides UGC avatar video tools for testimonial and TikTok-style ads. AdCreative.ai promotes predictive ad scoring built on what it says is a dataset of over 450 million ads.

Shhots differentiates itself on automation. "The most powerful promptless ads generator," the homepage declares. The company routes jobs to models including Veo 3, Kling 3.0, and Seedance 2.5, though it has not explained how it selects among them.
For now, the company is betting that marketers will trade creative control for speed and simplicity. Whether that trade-off holds as video models improve and competitors add their own automation layers is the next chapter in a story that's moving quickly.
