Ben Nowack is Co-Founder and CEO of Reflect Orbital, a Hawthorne-based company building satellites that redirect sunlight to Earth for lighting and solar energy applications. He leads the company's mission to make sunlight programmable and available on demand.
Ben studied at Wentworth Institute of Technology and worked at Park and Diamond before interning on Crew Dragon components at SpaceX. He also helped build autonomous drones at Zipline.
Ben built a fusion reactor and X-ray machines in high school, inspired by his carpenter father's workshop. Eight months into building Reflect, he was living in a garage and went $50,000 into credit card debt to finish critical tests, and the company raised its first round a month later.
Reflect Orbital raised a $6.5M seed led by Sequoia Capital, its first space investment since SpaceX, and a $20M Series A led by Lux Capital in May 2025. Total disclosed funding is roughly $35M, with Starship Ventures also participating.
Reflect received over 260,000 applications for satellite-reflected sunlight from 157 countries and is actively contracting with customers. Its first satellite is slated to launch in 2026, with a goal of supplying solar farms with dawn-level sunlight during the evening demand peak by 2030.
