
Dan Fipke is the Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer at Kanin Energy, a Calgary-founded cleantech company transforming industrial waste heat into carbon-free power for heavy industry across North America.
Dan holds a Master of Environment and Management from Royal Roads University and a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Calgary, and spent a decade at the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) and Alberta Energy in roles spanning generation forecasting, energy storage integration, and market design restructuring.
Dan brings deep expertise in electricity markets, regulatory compliance, and commercial agreements, having previously served as Vice President of Commercial and Regulatory at Terrapin Geothermics and as a Board Member at Student Energy.
At Kanin, Dan provides strategic leadership across electricity market navigation, regulatory approvals, and energy policy development, helping drive the company to raise over $7.55M and secure a Series A round, with a pipeline of approximately 50 megawatts of capacity.
Kanin has deployed operational waste-heat-to-power projects, including at the University of Dayton and the Phillips 66 Mewbourn gas-processing plant, and recently announced a raise of up to $100M to accelerate industrial decarbonization across North America.
