CEO & Co-Founder of
Maven Robotics (2024)
About

Hamza Derbas is Co-Founder and CEO of Maven Robotics, a Santa Clara-based industrial robotics company building general-purpose AI robots to automate complex physical tasks in manufacturing and logistics.

Before founding

Hamza earned a BSEE with highest distinction from the American University of Beirut, an MSEE in Control Systems from Purdue University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Founder Insights

With a career spanning deep engineering and business leadership, Hamza identified a critical gap between fast-moving autonomy technology and slow real-world deployment, founding Maven to close that divide.

Experience

Prior to Maven, Hamza spent nearly 8 years as Director of Engineering in Apple's Autonomous Systems division, and earlier served as Principal Research Engineer at Ford Motor Company developing next-generation fuel-efficient engines, and as Staff Software Engineer at A123 Systems designing control systems for electric vehicles and lithium-ion batteries.

Scale & Impact

Maven Robotics emerged from stealth in September 2026 with $100M in Series A funding, robots already running at 99% uptime across customer facilities for up to 16 hours a day, and plans to manufacture 250 third-generation robots targeting an $80 billion addressable market.
