Jake Bainbridge

Jake Bainbridge is the Co-Founder and CTO of Kanin Energy, a Calgary-based cleantech company that develops, finances, and operates waste-heat-to-power projects for heavy industry across North America.
Jake holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) from the University of Durham and built over a decade of hands-on energy expertise, progressing through engineering roles at Wood Group Mustang, Husky Energy, and as Director of Engineering and Technology at Terrapin Geothermics.
A licensed professional engineer, Jake serves on the Global Energy Show's Technical Committee and has presented at industry events including the Carbon Capture Summit, championing waste heat recovery as a practical decarbonization lever for industrial operators.
Jake co-founded Kanin Energy in 2020 alongside Janice Tran and Dan Fipke, bringing together deep technical, commercial, and project development expertise to deliver turnkey Energy-as-a-Service solutions to oil and gas, cement, steel, and mining sectors.
Kanin Energy has grown to a commercial portfolio exceeding 50 megawatts of projects under construction or operating, and in September 2026 closed a landmark $100 million equity raise led by S2G Investments and the Canada Growth Fund to scale across North America.
