Janice Tran

Janice Tran is the Co-Founder and CEO of Kanin Energy, a clean energy developer pioneering waste-heat-to-power technology to decarbonize heavy industries across North America.
Janice holds an MSc in Sustainability Management from Columbia University (Earth Institute Fellow), a Master's in Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan, and is a licensed Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in Canada.
The daughter of Vietnamese refugees who immigrated to Canada, Janice co-founded Student Energy in college, now the world's largest global charity dedicated to uniting post-secondary students on energy issues, and continues to serve on its board.
Prior to Kanin, Janice served as Director at Generate Capital where she built North America's largest portfolio of anaerobic digester assets, and before that launched the renewable microgrids business line at NRG Energy.
Kanin raised up to $100M in new equity financing to scale its pipeline of over 50 megawatts of waste-heat-to-power capacity, with active projects at Phillips 66 and the University of Dayton, and Janice was named to Hart Energy's Forty Under 40 in 2023.
