Jonathan Kagan, Ph.D. is the Scientific Co-Founder and Distinguished Scientist at ai3Bio, a biotechnology company pioneering the precise elimination of disease-causing Th17 cells to reset the immune system in autoimmune disease.
Kagan earned his Ph.D. in Microbial Pathogenesis from Yale University and completed postdoctoral training with Ruslan Medzhitov at Yale School of Medicine before establishing his own lab at Harvard in 2007.
A world-recognized authority on innate immunity and inflammation, Kagan holds the Marian R. Neutra, Ph.D. Professor of Pediatrics chair at Harvard Medical School and serves as Director of Basic Research and Shwachman Chair in Gastroenterology at Boston Children's Hospital.
Prior to ai3Bio, Kagan co-founded and served as President and Board Director of Corner Therapeutics, a biotech that raised $54M Series A to develop next-generation cancer and infectious disease vaccines; he also consults and holds equity in Larkspur Biosciences, MindImmune Therapeutics, and Neumora Therapeutics.
Kagan's research has accumulated over 29,000 scholarly citations, and ai3Bio launched from stealth in September 2026 with $48M in Series A funding to advance its STARx and T Deplete platforms toward first-in-human clinical trials for the more than 15 million Americans living with autoimmune disease.
