Luke Mackey is Co-Founder and CEO at Kota, an insurtech platform building the infrastructure for employee benefits to live on the internet. Kota enables companies to set up, manage, and automate health insurance, pensions, and life assurance globally through a unified platform.

Luke studied Marketing at National College of Ireland and previously served as Country Manager at Bolt Ireland and was CEO and Co-Founder of Bamboo, a food ordering app for restaurants and cafes from 2016 to 2020.

Luke was a Member at Reforge during the Spring 2021 Growth Series and co-founded Spacefox Studios prior to Bamboo. Kota was named to CB Insights' 2025 Insurtech 50, placing it among the top 3% of private insurtechs globally.

Kota raised $14.5M in Series A funding in May 2025 led by Eurazeo, with participation from EQT Ventures, Northzone, and Frontline Ventures, bringing total funding to $22.9M. The company obtained authorization from the Central Bank of Ireland and has integrated with leading European insurance providers.

Kota serves hundreds of SME clients across Ireland, the UK, and beyond, with a team of 175 employees. The platform has built deep integrations with insurers across dozens of countries and offers a seamless API for HRIS and payroll partners to embed benefits natively.
