Marko Virkebau is CEO and Co-Founder of Stargate Hydrogen, a company at the forefront of green hydrogen technology. Founded in 2021, Stargate builds electrolysers and develops alkaline electrolysis technology.

Marko co-founded and served as CFO at MeetFrank, a leading HR platform in the Baltic Sea region. Before MeetFrank, Marko held a Board Member and CFO position at MM Grupp OÜ, a leading family office in the region with over 150 companies in the portfolio, including venture capital investments into cleantech.

Marko was the first institutional investor and former Board Member at Skeleton Technologies. Marko holds PhD level courses in Economics and Finance from Tallinn University of Technology.

Stargate Hydrogen raised 42 million euros in financing, and later secured over 50 million euros with IPCEI status. Customers include Fortum, Utilitas, ABB, Rockfin, and others across Europe, Turkey and India.

The new electrolyser factory can deliver 140 MW of alkaline electrolysers annually, which can be expanded to 1GW+ with minor additional investments. The company estimates CO2 Emission Reduction of around 223,944 tons per year by 2027.
