Rafaël Michali

Rafaël Michali is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Sava, a London-based health technology company building a wearable biosensor platform that detects molecules just beneath the skin in real time.
Rafaël studied Engineering at Imperial College London, where he and Renato Circi worked in a research group tied to modern glucose strip technology. He first co-founded Caura, a portable saliva hormone testing device.
Rafaël and Renato were named to the 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list for Science and Healthcare. Their thesis is shifting healthcare from a curative system to one that is accessible, personalised and preventative.
Sava emerged from five years of stealth with an $8M Seed led by Balderton Capital and Exor Ventures, then raised a $19M Series A in 2025. In October 2026 it closed a $36M Series B led by Ascensia Diabetes Care.
Sava's clinical trial showed up to 10 days of accurate continuous glucose monitoring, a result unmatched by current microsensor platforms. The Ascensia deal gives it an exclusive commercialisation partner, initially in Europe.
