Rod Fitzsimmons Frey is a Co-Founder of Kanin Energy, a Calgary-based cleantech company pioneering waste heat-to-power solutions for heavy industry across North America.

Rod holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta and built deep expertise across energy, geothermal, and AI-driven health tech ventures.

With two founded organizations and roles spanning CTO, Chief Scientist, and VP Projects, Rod brings a rare blend of engineering rigor and entrepreneurial instinct to the cleantech space.

Prior to Kanin Energy, Rod served as CTO at Terrapin Geothermics, developing emission-free geothermal and waste heat energy projects, and as Chief Scientist at Cavalry, and Founder of Attassa.

Kanin Energy has grown to raise over $100M in funding led by S2G Investments and Canada Growth Fund, scaling its Energy-as-a-Service model to convert industrial waste heat into carbon-free baseload electricity across Canada and the United States.
