Saravana Maruthamuthu

Saravana Maruthamuthu is Founder and CEO at optoML, a pioneering fabless semiconductor startup developing ultra-low-power AI chips with analog-in-memory compute architectures and optical interconnects. OptoML is Singapore's first AI semiconductor startup with a development center in Bengaluru, India.
Saravana brings 17 years of semiconductor and systems experience, including about 10 years in Germany, with roles spanning Intel, Qualcomm, Continental, and Isar Aerospace across advanced nodes, analog mixed signal, and production grade platforms. He also worked at EMTensor Inc and ran Smart Wearables Maruthamuthu, and studied at Universitat Ulm.
Saravana has successfully led optoML through critical technical milestones including completion of 12nm TSMC tapeout and signing an MOU with Kaynes Semicon for assembly and testing. The company's patented in-memory compute architecture delivers up to 50x higher energy efficiency compared to traditional digital accelerators.
OptoML raised $1.8 million in Pre-Series A funding led by Bluehill.VC and A99 in February 2026, with institutional investors including Refex Capital, Cadence, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing. The company completed its 12nm TSMC tapeout and is advancing to next-generation chips.
OptoML's analog AI chips target edge, enterprise, and data center AI workloads with 50x energy savings, positioning the company at the intersection of two major compute shifts: analog in-memory architectures and optical interconnects. The technology aims to meaningfully reshape the cost and efficiency curve of AI infrastructure.
