Shankar Ramamurthy is the Founder and Board Member of Cato Digital, a pioneering sustainable bare metal cloud company headquartered in Milpitas, California, dedicated to delivering low-cost, low-carbon compute infrastructure.

Shankar earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and an MBA in Finance from IIM Bangalore, launching his career in strategy consulting at Deloitte before moving into operational leadership roles in the IT industry.

A serial entrepreneur with a passion for software-defined systems, Shankar has founded four companies spanning digital infrastructure, power management, and clean energy, driven by a vision to extend IT virtualization into the physical world of power and energy.

Prior to Cato Digital, Shankar founded Virtual Power Systems in 2012 and served as its CEO, and co-founded Energy Internet Corporation in 2018, where he currently serves as Co-founder and CEO developing long-duration energy storage solutions.

Cato Digital has raised $56.9M in funding, operates five data center locations across the US and internationally, and serves as a founding member of the Infrastructure Masons Climate Accord, targeting scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reductions across the digital infrastructure sector.
