Silviu Homoceanu is Co-Founder and CTO of Almetra, a Berlin-based Physical AI company that deploys computer vision and edge AI directly above factory production lines to give manufacturers real-time operational intelligence.

Silviu studied Computer Science at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, earned an M.Sc. and a Dr.-Ing. in Information Systems from Technische Universitat Braunschweig, and spent nearly a decade at Volkswagen Group, rising to Head of Self-Driving Systems Software at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Drawing on his autonomous driving research, Silviu recognized that factories lacked the same real-world perception capabilities as self-driving cars, inspiring him to apply computer vision to the shop floor after visiting over 200 manufacturing facilities. He has published 8 peer-reviewed papers on autonomous driving AI with over 300 citations.

Before Almetra (formerly Deltia), Silviu co-founded BrainPlug GmbH, a video-analytics startup in the security industry, and served as a Founder in Residence at Merantix, the Berlin AI studio where Almetra was originally incubated.

Almetra has grown to 40 employees, serves industrial giants including Bosch, Siemens Energy, and ABB, and has raised over $25M in total funding including a Series A led by blisce/, with clients reporting up to 20% productivity gains.
