Sofia Delgado

Sofia Delgado is Co-Founder and CEO of Seamoretech, a Portuguese cleantech company that turns desalination brine into critical raw materials and freshwater.
Sofia earned an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and a PhD in chemical engineering. Her research at the LEPABE laboratory and her earlier work as a project engineer laid the groundwork for Seamoretech.
Sofia co-founded Seamoretech with CTO Eva Sousa, and the company was created in 2021 as a spin-off from FEUP/LEPABE. She was a BlueInvest Day 2025 finalist in Brussels and was invited to Climate Week NYC.
Seamoretech has raised funding from investors including EIT RawMaterials, Creative Destruction Lab, Faber Ventures and BlueInvest. Its pending international patent covers a brine purification device and method.
Seamoretech's technology doubles freshwater recovery from desalination waste streams, reaches Zero Liquid Discharge and cuts carbon footprint by 80%. K+S selected the company as one of four finalists from about 100 applicants to its ROOTCAMP Water Challenge 2025, and a pilot is being initiated.
