Altro Health raises $7M to power wellness business clinics

The NYC startup offers gyms and medspas a white-label platform to add GLP-1s, peptides, and hormone therapy—backed by NFX as demand for clinical wellness surges.

Altro Health raises $7M to power wellness business clinics

Altro Health pulled in $7 million in seed funding led by NFX, the New York startup announced Sunday, with checks from Founder Collective and Primetime Partners' Abby Miller Levy. The company sells what amounts to turnkey telehealth infrastructure: gyms, medspas, and fitness studios can use Altro's platform to offer GLP-1 weight-management programs, peptides, and hormone therapy under their own branding.

The public announcement came in early October, though CEO Andrea Corleto wrote on LinkedIn that the team had already spent six months "heads down building" after the capital came in. The company wouldn't confirm an exact date or disclose valuation.

What Altro is selling, essentially, is the back office. Partners get access to licensed clinician networks spanning all 50 states and Washington, D.C., coordination with U.S. compounding pharmacies, lab testing logistics, and payment rails. They set their own prices and maintain the customer relationship. Altro handles clinical oversight and compliance in the background. The company says it now serves over 5,000 users, though it did not break out how many partner businesses that represents.

Pricing starts at $319 monthly (or $957 billed quarterly) for a basic tier, $599 monthly (or $1,797 billed quarterly) for the premium version, with a custom Enterprise option also available. No onboarding fees, no long-term contracts. Setup purportedly takes a single business day, after which partners can launch co-branded storefronts complete with patient portals for lab orders and progress tracking.

James Currier, a general partner at NFX, called it a "clinical Shopify for wellness" in an investment memo published around midyear. The analogy is apt, if a bit tidy. Where Shopify democratized e-commerce infrastructure, Altro is betting that thousands of fitness and wellness operators want to monetize the growing appetite for medical-grade offerings but lack the regulatory and logistical scaffolding to do so safely.

The founders know the pain points firsthand. Corleto and co-founder Jennifer Arnold previously ran Lyv Health, a virtual longevity clinic. Altro started as the infrastructure they wished they'd had while operating that business. The company formally rebranded from Lyv Health to Altro Health in mid-July, according to its blog.

Corleto's resume includes an MBA from Harvard and a stint as the first employee and head of growth at a consumer tech company that reportedly reached a billion-dollar valuation. Arnold brings medtech experience, including prior work securing FDA approvals, according to NFX's memo.

The market tailwinds are real, even if the category remains nascent and somewhat hazy. A survey last year of more than 1,100 personal trainers by the National Academy of Sports Medicine found that nearly three-quarters had already fielded questions from clients about GLP-1 medications. Grand View Research pegged the global peptide therapeutics market at $164 billion recently, with projections climbing north of $290 billion within several years.

"As the world becomes more automated, the last mile must become more human," Amanda Herson, a general partner at Founder Collective, said in the announcement. "Peptides and other injectables aren't a category people should navigate alone." It's a telling framing: the pitch here isn't just convenience, but the notion that wellness businesses can provide a trusted human layer atop complex medical protocols.

Altro isn't alone in chasing this opening. Axentra Health provides clinical and compliance infrastructure in the space. Hydreight operates a mobile clinical network with white-label telehealth tools and claims a 50-state footprint. Asher Health markets what it calls medical-grade wellness infrastructure covering labs, GLP-1s, and peptides. How crowded the space becomes likely depends on how quickly demand from fitness studios and medspas materializes, and whether regulatory scrutiny tightens around compounded medications.

The fresh capital, Altro said, will fund expanded product offerings and allow the company to onboard more wellness businesses nationwide. Corleto thanked Pear VC's Mar Hershenson and Dorm Room Fund's Molly Fowler on LinkedIn "since the early days," though neither firm was confirmed as a participant in the round. That kind of early supporter acknowledgment is common in startup announcements, though it leaves open the question of whether they backed the company in a prior or smaller capacity.

For now, Altro is making a straightforward bet: that the infrastructure layer for wellness commerce is up for grabs, and that thousands of business owners would rather outsource the clinical complexity than build it themselves.
